A recent graduate of the Artist Masters at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Australian-French Lyla Levy-Jordan is currently based between Berlin and London. In addition to her studies, Levy-Jordan expanded her training in masterclasses with Thomas Hampson, Graham Johnson, Susan Manoff, Malcolm Martineau, Ann Murray, Hartmut Höll and Julius Drake amongst others.
This Summer, Lyla will make her debut with the Australian Contemporary Opera Company in the Australian Premiere of Ellen Reid’s Pulitzer Winning opera P R I S M as Lumee.
Levy-Jordan’s repertoire spans from baroque to contemporary music. At the Guildhall she appeared as Cornelia in Handel’s Giulio Cesare, in the title role in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, as Dritte Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Mrs Tracey in Musgrave’s The Voice of Ariadne. Other operatic engagements include Annio in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito for Pacific Opera, Marcellina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra and the World Premiere as Fairy (cover) in Simon Bruckard’s The Selfish Giant with Victorian Opera.
A keen recitalist, Lyla Levy-Jordan has appeared at the Pierre Boulez Saal, Melbourne Recital Centre, Barbican Centre and City Recital Hall (Sydney). Further concert activities have taken her to the Barbican Hall with the LSO and under the direction if Sir Antonio Pappano with Dallapiccola’s Il Prigioniero.
Throughout the 2022/2023 Season, Lyla was a member of the Liedakademie Heidelberger Frühling Liedzentrum.
Recent Awards include The Opera Foundation for Young Australians Lady Galleghan Award (Opera Holland Park), Winner of the Chartered Surveyors Vocal Prize (Guildhall) and Runner Up in The Great Romantics Competition (Melbourne Recital Centre).
